Christmas Through The Years
Let’s take a walk down memory lane and look at Christmas through the years here at Artsy Chicks Rule.
It’s busy busy this time of year and I know for us, we’ve been busy trying to finish up the remaining things left on the home remodel. We’re hosting our family for dinner on Christmas day so we are hustling! ;)
So, there aren’t any new projects around here right now and probably won’t be until January. But I’ll still be sharing a few fun things I think you might like and really enjoy seeing!
Today I thought I’d share photos of Christmas through the years, here on the blog and in our home.
We’ve done so much to our home lately plus I love to change up things from year to year, I thought it might be fun to take a walk down memory lane. :)
I hope you will enjoy taking that walk with me today! xo
Let’s start here….way on back to 2012…. ;)
Christmas was about a month after I started my blog back in 2012 and I wasn’t much into doing “home tours” at that time.
It was all about crafty crafts and making stuff! ;) So I shared multiple holiday ideas like this tiny tree that I thought would make a good children’s project. ;)
Feels like forever ago in blog world. :)
And sharing how to make chalkboards out of old thrift store framed prints….
And let’s move on quickly to 2013 ;) …
Our dark brown foyer…and our sweet Lexi girl.
She was such a love and huge part of our family. Miss her dearly.
Things certainly look different around here these days, right??
That old tan leather couch that my husband just adored. I had to work on him for years before he finally let me let it go! lol
But it was really getting worn so it was time anyway. ;)
Not to mention my decor style AND photography skills. ;) (or lack of, I should say! oh my, lol)
There’s our very first “coffee bar” over there.
I recently created a brand new one in this same room (which looks totally different now) and I just love how it turned out!
I always thought it was fun to put this dining table at an angle for something different.
I’d get tired of it and I’d moved it back around, so on and so forth. ;)
Our foyer the next year, 2014.
(and hey, those are the silver trees, one of which I painted gold this year for our dining room table)
Our Aubusson Blue dresser that got a makeover recently.
I am SO looking forward to being able to finally share the finished kitchen with you guys!
(as I’m writing this, we are still trying to finish up the island…but by the time you are reading this….we will be done! … or we better be!! haha)
And 2015….
Our old “baker’s hutch” that I used to have in this space.
That’s where one of the white chairs sits in our morning room now. :)
Remember the thrift store coffee table I turned into a tufted ottoman?
And the laundry room…as it was at some point midway through the years here.
Looks a little different now, huh?? ;)
Things look pretty much the same, just styled differently for Christmas.
Another one of our sweet girl, we sure miss her!
This was the last Christmas we got to spend with her. She was terminally ill when I took this photo and didn’t even know it yet.
We found out very shortly after (a week??) that she had Lymphoma (she seemed completely fine, but I noticed lumps on her which led to the diagnosis). :(
Here’s a post I made about her, sharing photos where she appeared on my blog and a video of her life with us through the years, if you’d like to see.
And I don’t leave things alone for long, that tufted ottoman got a new look that year….
…believe it or not, but I actually used the unfinished backside of the flooring you see there in the background (what we had leftover) to create that “weathered” top.
And the first year with our DIY flocked thrift store tree…
See all the room we had wasted in here?? So much better as a dining room with a nice, long table!
And the old dining room which is now our morning room. :)
Now onto 2016….
The little tiered tray I recently gave a makeover to.
A few outside shots that year…
The front porch (and exterior) of our home are getting bunches of makeovers this coming spring.
Can’t wait!
And last year, 2017…
The newly renovated laundry room….
The kitchen, which looks completely different now! :)
Looking forward to sharing this exact same view (below) in the coming weeks. :)
Our little skinny tree which was new for last year.
I didn’t get that one up this year but had “big plans” for it out on our screened back porch.
I just didn’t get the time to get that area straight and ready for decor in time. (it’s getting a makeover too…undecided how much of one as of yet :) )
Here’s a shot of our porch from last year.
We are considering either adding windows all the way around or sliders. But either way, closing it in in some way while still keeping it light, bright and airy.
With all of the trees around us and behind us, not to mention the type of weather we have here and living so close to the water, this porch is tough to keep clean.
It’s a constant battle and we end up not using the space as much as we’d like.
And as a reminder of where we are today, here is a foyer and dining room shot…..
Here are our 2018 holiday tours in case you missed them:
I hope you enjoyed this look back over the years! :)
It was fun for me to see and reminisce over the memories, for sure.
I hope you are relaxing and enjoying these last few days before the holidays officially arrive.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
xoxo

Very fun to see your Christmases through the years. Thanks for sharing, Nancy. I remember when I started following your blog, but I think I must have gone back and looked at older posts, because much of it seems familiar. Your renos are going great, and everything looks amazing! Have a wonderful Christmas!
