Our OBX beach condo reveal …finally! It’s been a long time coming, and I’m sharing it today!

Hello, beautiful friends!

Who doesn’t love a good “before and after”?? I know I am a total sucker for that!
I’m finally sharing the full OBX beach condo reveal. It’s about time!! ha! I’ve been meaning to for years, but it always got pushed to the side. Well, since I went in recently and updated the decor, added new things, etc., I thought it’s high time I shared it with you all here.

So, to catch you up, we purchased the condo in Sept 2019. And we were just getting settled in when the world shut down. We used that time to become weekend warriors and remodel the entire condo. (minus the kitchen, that’s the only thing left to do)

I’ll share some before shots of when we bought it, some of the remodel work we did, and how it looks now.

Hope you enjoy seeing it!

Beach Condo Update Full Reveal

“BEFORE”

dark gray floor with blue couch and mismatched furniture

white dining table with metal light fixture

wood cabinet and kitchen view, bunk beds in alcove

fireplace wall and sliding doors

white kitchen and bartop

bedroom with white covers and horse print over bed

natural wood dresser with mirror over top

deck with small metal green table and chairs

Just a bit of the work we did…

Removed the fireplace and wall to create a larger living area.

wood partially torn apart with fireplace parts

fireplace wall with fireplace gone in construction

New flooring… (flooring reveal is here)

removing the dark floor

You can see how the “coffee bar” looked before I painted it blue. Read about that makeover here.
That was a Home Goods find and the very first thing we bought for the condo.

Scraped the popcorn ceilings… (tutorial is here)

the scraped ceiling

Removed the peeling paint from the doors and repainted… (tutorial is here)

peeling paint on door

I don’t have an in-progress photo, but as you look at the “reveal” photos, take notice of the new trim everywhere. Baseboard, crown, around doors, etc. All new. Plus, shiplap features in some rooms, too.

Whew!! It’s a little daunting to look back at all that. I’m SO glad to have it behind us.

REAVEAL

A welcoming entryway…

small outside area with shelf and shells, plant and welcome sign with mat

… I added the little shelf I found at the thrift store to our small area here.

Your view here is coming into the condo from the foyer area.

blue console table with shelves and shelves above for coffee bar and looking into living area

See how much more room there is now that the wall and fireplace are gone?? Such a good decision to remove that! Several other homeowners have removed theirs now, too.

You can see my favorite thing!

The new coffee/tea bar.

blue coffee bar with baskets on the shelves, shelves above with teas, coffee makers and mugs

We made the shelves. No tutorial, sorry! Just 2 x 10 boards cut to size and stained with Driftwood Stain and Finishing Oil.
The baskets came from At Home. I’ll link things that I can at the end of this post.

drawer with k cups

Back to the foyer, looking over from the kitchen.

white wall with shiplap and hooks

We added the shiplap and hooks. (and see all the pretty new trim everywhere?)
Remember that half moon table??? You can see the makeover of it here.

The additional alcove/sleeping area.

small room with round window and single white bed, egret print on wall

small walkway looking into bathroom

It pulls out to make a full, almost king-size bed.

single bed turned into one large bed taking up the space in the small alcove

It does take up the whole space, though, but private with a pocket door.

small alcove with bed and pocket door half closed

Looking back towards the foyer and kitchen.

coffee bar looking out the front door

As you can see, we have added new appliances. The rest of the kitchen will get remodeled next winter…maybe!! lol

looking into the kitchen at cabinets, microwave and stove

I found this pretty artwork at a market down in the OBX.

pretty glass art framed behind stove

Read all about the faux tile backsplash I applied (temporary fix until we remodel the kitchen) here.

white cabinets with blue vinyl tile backsplash

You might recognize that light fixture from the “before” photos…we moved it from the bedroom.

in the kitchen, looking into the living area.

stainless fridge with white shelved area beside it

The dining and living area…

blue and white stay salty sign over window

…and my ‘stay salty’ sign I recently made and added. You can see it here.

wood round dining table and white floofy chairs

dining table and chairs and tan sectional in living area

white pillow on basket that says to the beach

A great place to store games and puzzles.

inside lidded basket are games and puzzles

tan sectional with throw pillows and ottoman and blanket

Beach House tray I thrifted, painted, and brought to the condo can be found here.

glass sliding doors with white curtains looking onto deck

framed lighthouse print on table top with blue lamp

This end table is another one I made over! You can see it here. It was super orangey, go take a look!

glass sliding doors with white curtains looking out onto cozy deck from living area

The OBX sign I made before we bought the condo, you can see it here.

white shiplapped wall with large tv and tiled cabinet below

We’d like to put one of those long, rectangular (flush with the wall) electric fireplaces under the TV.

The Deck…

deck with furniture and pillows

I love the new outdoor space!

two outdoor chairs side by side

Previously, we only had this table and chairs out here.

teak tall table with chairs

Remember that teak set?? It was gray when I bought it. You can see how I refinished it here.

We enjoy this deck so much now.

outdoor set with glasstop coffee table, teak tables on each side, relax pillow in middle

The Bathroom…

The bathroom where we added shiplap walls, a thrifted mirror, and shelves, etc.

round gold framed mirror with shiplap walls and gray bath vanity. gray shelves over toilet

We plan to put a longer vanity that goes all the way to the wall later on.

same bathroom with white shower curtain and colorful rug

small white marble shelf on countertop with glass bottles of lotion and hand soap

Jennette’s Pier is in the photo.

small gold framed picture of pier and ocean

The Bedroom…

bedroom with white cover and colorful pillows, colorful print above bed, gold starburst mirrors on each side, colorful rug

A new rug in here. (larger than the original one we purchased for in here)

stained dresser with small tv over top

We originally put the TV above the mirror over the dresser. Now that we’ve removed the mirror, the TV looks too small. We will likely replace it with a bit larger one at some point.
You can see the other ‘stay salty’ sign I made years ago here.
And the dressers I stained with Driftwood S & FO here.

bedroom room view of partial bed and looking out the windows

And lastly, a look at our cozy deck, with the new cafe lights, at night…
