Simple Christmas Decor – 2024
A very simple Christmas home with simple Christmas decor of red, white, and green! No fluff or too much stuff this year!
Hello beautiful friends, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!
I’m so behind this year. I usually post our Christmas home and decor much earlier than this but here we are! Ha! But better late than never, right? Today I’m sharing our very simple Christmas decor. Since we’ve been so busy with things, life, this house (painting etc), I decided to do a very simple Christmas this year with our decor. I was kind of going for a rustic lodge sort of situation. I think I achieved it!
And I’m actually surprised at how much I am enjoying it. I think my husband and son don’t mind too much either. ;) My son would love all the “fluff” but he’s grown so I don’t have to do that every year anymore, right? lol
Anyway, I thought I’d share it with you. Plus a few photos of our decorated porch too. (and a sneak peek of our new paint again and the shutters in place)
It wouldn’t be complete without a few pictures of our favorite pups too!
Simple Christmas Decor (scenes from Christmas 2024)
We’ll start with the porch.
I adore these little trees. I got one set and quickly went back for two. Thankfully, they still had some when I did.
You can find them here. (they are in stock as of this writing)
And I used the small, timered fairy lights on all of them for nighttime.
You can find those here. (in stock and 30% off)
You can find our doormat here.
They look so pretty on each side of the door. Especially at night.
The new shutters look great and I finally nailed the color down perfectly. Yay!
We have plans for the front lower brick area. I’ll share when we do.
Remember this table?? (see it here)
The red ceramic Christmas tree is from Wal-Mart.
These pillows have seen a holiday or 10. Haha! They are a bit faded but I still love them. (the other one says “merry”)
The lantern came from Kroger, believe it or not. The lanterns I found here.
Piper and Ryder say come on in, friends!
I bought two new rugs this year, one for the foyer and one for the kitchen.
You can find them here. (it shows 2 in stock)
And Mr. Sassy Santa right here where he’s been the last few years. My favorite place for him.
I just love him.
Please pay no mind to the “no trim” around our door below. We are redoing the decorative treatment around the foyer that we put up years ago. It’s beautiful but we want it to match better the rest of the house which is shiplap/board and batten. So once we do that we will add the trim back around the door. Never a dull moment around here. lol
I’m still loving our new light fixture though. It goes perfectly with our decor and it’s so unique. You can find it here.
(and our painted ceiling too…read about that here)
Look at that cute little face peeking around the corner. She’s my little shadow, for sure.
I didn’t do a lot in the kitchen, just the rug, the mirror, and the window. (plus red and white kitchen towels too)
I love the ledge for all of the Christmas cards we get though. It’s a great way to display them.
Simple and with the heart ornament I had made last year with my parents. It stays there all year.
I love seeing windows through the window. lol Can’t wait till our extra room there is finished.
I still love this little Santa calendar figurine I found at the thrift store years ago. He always sits right here. There is one day (I can’t remember the one but it’s right before Christmas) that the number blocks don’t work out, haha, but I still love it! (and probably why someone got rid of it, lol)
Looking into the “morning room” from the kitchen.
It’s going through some transformations too. But do you see the tree? It’s new this year. I decided to go with “un-flocked” this year.
Love this tree, it’s heavy but it’s very realistic. (you can find it here)
AND no ornaments (only a star on top). That is one of the biggest things I did differently to keep it simple this year. (plus, just not putting all of my other decor out) Kind of rustic winter “lodge-ish”, right? No fru-fru or fluff.
You might also notice we kept the same couch but got rid of the white covers. We had these tan covers already so put them on for a change in here.
We did this trim going around the room years ago when this was a dining room. It’s getting changed too. It doesn’t really fit the room…or our home.
Haven’t fully pinned down what exactly we are doing but probably some sort of shiplap and a dark-ish color on the walls and/or ceiling. We are going for a completely different vibe in this room but still keeping it flowing with the rest of the home/decor since it’s such an open floor plan now.
And a new rug with these gorgeous colors…
Which I adore! You can find it here.
And it was SO easy to lay out, I did it completely by myself in less than ten minutes.
We also got a new leather chair. It swivels and is so comfy. I found it at Home Sense.
It was just time to move away from the all-white furniture. The ottoman is just like the one that is in our living room. This one was in our son’s room and he really wasn’t using it anymore so we put it here for now. It’s a storage ottoman, which is nice.
You can find it here.
Oh, and a cute little wood table beside it I found at Burlington for I think, $59.
The fun Christmas tree pillow came from Costco this year.
The coffee bar got a bit of simple Christmas too.
The dining room built in…the sign I made years ago.
The dining table centerpiece with my favorite Nativity that we’ve probably had almost our entire marriage. I found it early on in those days.
Hey you…
…told you she was my shadow. She does not let me out of her sight!
The laundry has a red rug too.
I hung up the new Nutcracker sign I made in there.
Christmas towels, greenery swag, and fairy lights in the small half bath.
And a Santa sign I made using a napkin a year or two ago.
Still LOVING this peel-and-stick wallpaper in here…and it’s holding up great! Read all about it here.
The living room with simple Christmas touches like greenery, red and white pillows, and red and white throws.
And cute Christmas pups too! (I did not plan that…I turned around and Piper had gone over to lay by Ryder…so sweet!)
This is really Piper’s favorite spot. She loves to look out the window. (and bark at people, fun times ha!)
This was a fun tray to make. You can read all about it here.
I think the Joy pillow was from Costco last year. They have such great pillows every year.
I had purchased a different tree for in here this year but the lights all died 2 days later. Boo.
So I pulled this non-flocked tree out of the garage storage and used it here instead. The tree collar can be found here.
I got new red and white stockings to go with this “simple Christmas” theme this year.
You can find them here and here (pups, they are dog bone shaped but it’s hard to tell in the photo of them hanging).
Don’t forget, if you are a follower here, you can download these TV screensavers for your TV. (they are in the Printable Library)
I kind of love the clean look of the trees with just the lights and the stars.
Along the touches of red, white, and green all around.
And it really took a weight off this year to keep it simple. Not only that, it feels so much less “cluttery”.
Love that.
Piper says thank you for coming to visit!
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, and Happy New Year, my dear friends!
xoxo
I love the less stuff look. I did that this year also. My plan is to be very selective in putting stuff away after the new year so i won’t have so much to look through next year.
Yes!! Like minds, I am going to do the same exact thing when I put things back this year. I already moved a few things around in my storage bins because we had to pull them all down to get the few things I decided to use. That way, next year if I’m feeling another simple Christmas it will be much easier! xo
I think the puppers in their Christmas jammies are the best decoration!! But I love the simple decor all around.
Awe, thanks, Noelle!! I have to agree! xo
Thanks for the tour. Such a wonderful home to live in. Merry Christmas to you, your family and especially Ryder and Piper. So cute in their pjs.
Thank you so much, Jaye! Merry Christmas to you as well! xo
Nancy, Your home is beautiful and I just love your fur babies and when I read your posts, I always look forward to seeing them somewhere in your home. I want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and New Years. Thank you for all the inspiration you give me and I look forward to seeing your updates in 2025. Pam Emma
Thank you so much, Pam! So happy you enjoy seeing my puppy babies! :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours as well, sweet friend! xoxo
So pretty and so many great ideas! Thanks for sharing! I planned to do less this year too, but I kept finding things that I love (or that my mom or MIL loved) and I HAD to find places for them. LOL I’ll do less next year…maybe. :) Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Thank you, Cyndi! Yes, I totally get that! I didn’t do much but I found myself doing that a bit too!! ha! Merry Christmas, friend!! xoxo
Nancy, your home is so lovely and those precious puppies are just adorable dressed in their Christmas finery!! Thank you for sharing your home with us. You are such a dear and I so appreciate you. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas AND a joyous New Year!!
Thank you, Caye! I’m so happy to share! :) Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a blessed New Year! xoxo
The fur babies – so sweet in their jammies – cannot believe Ryder allowed the jammies, but Piper yes lol! I did the same thing this year (no decorations on the tree except the topper) which makes it easier for my cat to lay in the branches ha! And my decorations are simple (I had tendon surgery on my left hand which made it rather difficult to bring out all my decorations) which I now really enjoy the less clutter)! Thank you as always for the inspirations! Wishing you & your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2025! Cannot wait to see the finishing touches on your home!
Thank you, Linda! Yes! They are adorable in them. Poor Ryder is having allergy issues so his are cute and functional! (they help to keep him from chewing himself raw, poor thing!) He doesn’t seem to mind them at all! Piper is the one who doesn’t really love putting them on but once they are on she seems okay with it. Hers don’t stay on very long though. lol I do put a sweater type on her when we go out walking etc to keep her warm though.
And yes, isn’t it so nice without all the clutter? I am really enjoying that part more than I thought I would! I don’t really miss all the “fluff” surprisingly. I hope you have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! xoxo
Love your precious doggies! Beautiful pictures and especially like you linking all your great finds! Going to look for those Christmas trees now!
Thank you, Nancy!! Hope you had a very Merry Christmas! xoxo
Nancy, everything looks beautiful…as always. Love the red rugs and the pups in the jammies, so adorable! I’m now thinking I have too much ‘stuff’ all over and should have went simpler lol. That originally was the plan. We went a bit smaller with our tree and I couldn’t fit all my ornaments I like to use lol. I’ve decided to shop after Christmas sales for an artificial tree. Going to be hard to make the switch but I think I’m ready. Done with wanting to put it up two weeks prior and hoping it doesn’t look dead by Christmas day lol. Your porch looks beautiful also. Thanks for the links, I’ve saved some. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and and happy and healthy 2025! Thanks for all the inspiration you provide all year.
Thank you, Debra!! We used to always do a real tree (at least the one main one) but stopped after we had aphids in our tree one year! Ack! It was a nightmare! So I vowed never again!! I didn’t even know that was a thing, had never heard of them. Who knew!? So I’ve happily done only artificial since … and no bugs!! haha!
Hope you had a very merry Christmas, Debra! And here’s to a happy and healthy New Year to you as well! xoxo
