Hello friends and happy Trash to Treasure Transformation Tuesday! Woohoo! I can’t wait to show you what I did with this old thing.

It’s part of my most recent haul…

Looks like I have 4 more to go!

Take a look at the inside of this box…

Okay, so I called this a “card box” because it just seemed like the perfect thing to use it for. Note cards, etc.
But do any of you know what the purpose of this box really is? It’s so odd.

Let me know in the comments if you know!

I began by cleaning it up with some TSP alternative.

Then I applied one coat of Ultra Grip.

Once that was dry overnight, I applied 2 coats of Victorian Lace.

I went into my decor transfers and found these scraps left over from other projects.

butterfly and French decor transfers

Most, if not all, of them, came from this transfer.

MATERIALS LIST

I applied them in several different areas with the big, beautiful butterfly on top. Love it!

As you’ll see further down, I just mixed and matched and made it work. :)

For the inside, I decided to paint it this color, Heirloom.

And got this pretty scrapbook paper out of this stash to use for the bottom of the card box.

I applied a coat of Decoupage & Transfer Gel to the bottom and attached the pretty paper. (I used this cutter to get the exact size easily)

The rest of the transfers went inside here…

Isn’t that paper just perfect??

And outside here…

I adore how this one turned out!

I applied one coat of Matte Topcoat to seal the transfers.

There’s even a sweet pink one on the paper below.

That white is so crisp and the butterfly just stands out so beautifully.

Isn’t it crazy how different it looks now??

So fun!

  1. It looks as if it could be used for a number of things, recipe cards, stationary, cigars, photographs. I’m just going to call it “The box of important things.” 😉
You did a beautiful job on it. Very pretty.

  2. What a beautiful makeover. Love it and it would be perfect for putting my homemade cards in.
For a young girl, she could use it as a her little ‘treasure box’.
Could set it on an entry table to put your keyss, change, etc. in. Nice just putting on a mantel as a deocrative piece

  3. Beautiful, Nancy! Nice to have a box that doesn’t require a ton of prep, too. The butterfly transfer is so sweet, I love how it flows inside. I have that scrapbook paper and wouldn’t use it for a card or scrapbook, but it’s perfect as a lining. I have just the box, in fact – one of those projects that got set aside because it didn’t speak to me. Thanks to you, I can hear it now 😁

  4. This feels so fresh and springy! Love all the details you put into making the box over. Happy Spring! XOXO
