This end table update, with a stunning shade of blue, pretty pink floral transfers, and elegant script accents, adds just the right touch.

Hello, friends!

Let’s get our Trashy Treasure going this month! I’ve got a super cute little makeover today. The poor little thing was in need of some loving, for sure. I found it at the ReStore (I have 3 within driving distance), which seems to be where I find all my furniture these days. It’s so hard to find anything good at the thrift stores, I tell ya.

A banner with a pink checkered background reads Trashy Treasures Tuesday. The word Trashy is in pink script above TREASURES TUESDAY in black, with a black silhouette of a lamp—perfect inspiration if you’re learning how to paint laminate furniture.

If you are new here, some friends and I get together the second Tuesday of every month to share our latest “trash to treasures”. So be sure to scroll all the way down to see theirs!

End Table Update with Paint & Transfer

Today, I’m sharing this one:

A small, distressed white painted end table with one drawer stands on a brown mat by a front door. A potted fern and a vertical WELCOME sign are in the background. The word BEFORE is in the bottom left corner.

Someone had already given it a “shabby chic” style makeover at some point.

But it was a little rough now.

A small, white painted end table with scuffed and worn areas on the surface, showing some scratches and discoloration. Part of a brown doormat and a leafy plant are visible in the background.

Cracks and chips, etc. And some mighty bleedy paint. The drawer was left unpainted, but see that orange?? That was on the legs, too.

That is bleeding through from under the paint. It’ll need a shellac-based sealer to keep that from happening again.

SAND & REPAIR

So, I cleaned it up and sanded the whole thing.

A hand holds a sanding block, smoothing the surface of a white, distressed end table outdoors on a sunny day. The table shows signs of wear, and paving stones are visible in the background.

Then used wood filler to fill in a few areas and rebuild the small chipped front area.

Once dry, I sanded the filler to smooth and painted a coat of this over the whole thing.

PRIME

A hand holds a can of Zinsser B-I-N Shellac-Base Primer, highlighting its ultimate stain-blocking power for paint projects. The label notes it blocks water stains, knots, sap, and seals wood in 15 minutes. An end table is visible in the background.

PAINT

Then I pulled out this beautiful paint color, Heirloom, to paint her up.

A large paintbrush applies teal paint to the leg of a white wooden end table. A transfer cloth and a wooden drawer sit on the floor in the background.

I usually roll the tops or large flat areas so they are smooth.

The inside drawer was unpainted when I began this makeover. I had considered painting it a different color, maybe something dark or even a shade of pink. But I decided to use the same color inside and out.

I was a little worried it would bleed through but it didn’t. Yay! (see that awful orange coming through below?)

An empty wooden drawer with a light pink painted interior, showing some brush strokes and subtle variations in color, rests on a beige fabric surface—perfect to transfer into your next end table project.

This one was a process. I was stumped!! Haha! But once I decided on a direction, it rolled.

TRANSFER

And that direction was with this transfer.

A hand holds pink scissors next to a sheet of floral transfer decal with cursive writing and a grid pattern, positioned over a light blue surface on an end table atop a wooden floor.

I just had to work out the placement/layout.

A translucent sheet with cursive French text and pastel pink flowers is placed on a light blue end table, ready for transfer as decoration. The background shows a wooden floor. Perfect for adding charm before you paint or redecorate.

Some florals in the top left corner with the script flowing down from there. You can see there on the bottom left that I cut out part of the floral so I could move the script over to the left on the next row down.

Otherwise, that row far left would’ve been much farther in. That’s the takeaway here, use your transfers any way you want. Not just the way they were designed to be used. I cut mine up all the time and move them about to create the design I want or need for my project.

A hand uses a wooden tool to transfer a French text decal onto a painted end table with a blue surface, decorated with pink and white flowers along the left edge. The corner displays a white circular acm watermark.

I used another small floral piece for the bottom right of the drawer.

A hand with neatly manicured nails holds a sheet of furniture transfer paper featuring pastel floral designs with pink and blue flowers, positioned over a light blue surface. The sheet is partially peeled back.

And considered adding some script to the left of it, too.

A light blue end table is being decorated with floral designs and French script using a transfer sheet. The table has a vintage look, and the setting appears to be a craft or DIY workspace.

But decided that was a bit too busy and not needed.

This little piece became a “surprise” element inside the drawer.

A hand holds a piece of clear transfer paper with a blue flower and decorative pink scroll design, partially peeled back from white backing paper—perfect for adding flair to your next end table paint project. A towel and paint can blur in the background.

Once all the transfers were transferred to the end table, I used my Polishing Pad to burnish the edges.

SEAL & PROTECT

Lastly, I put two coats of Tough Coat Topcoat over both transfers. (tabletop and drawer front) And added this sweet, crystal style knob.

I didn’t want anything that would take away from the rest of the design.

REVEAL

Okay, so I usually take photos in my home but it’s a wreck with the laundry makeover. (looks like are packing to move out or have just moved in, either way, it’s a mess, lol!)

So, I took them on our front porch. Here is this pretty little end table update.

A small teal-painted wooden end table with turned legs and a single drawer featuring a clear knob and a floral transfer in the corner, placed on a porch in front of a white brick wall and window.

Two white rocking chairs with light blue pillows sit on a porch, facing a small blue end table, in front of a white brick house with three windows and green shutters.

Isn’t she so sweet now??

Isn’t that crystal knob perfect?

No distressing, just beautiful clean lines.

From the top…

A blue plaque, perfect for an end table, features painted white and pink flowers in the top left corner and French cursive text in black across the center; ACY logo in white is at the bottom right.

…see now how I needed that “fermes” to go all the way to the left? It ended up perfectly lined up this way.

I love letting the transfers naturally flow instead of cutting them off at the edges.

And peek-a-boo, surprise inside!

Just a small little something when you open the drawer.

This one stumped me for a bit because I didn’t think a “paint and done” was what she needed. But I just could not come up with what exactly I wanted to do. Until I did. And it was just right.
That’s usually how it goes a lot of times. Nothing and more nothing (and sometimes even more nothing!lol) and then there it is! Flowing and going and rolling along.

PIN it to save it!

The word Nancy is written in elegant, flowing black script, reminiscent of Chalk Style Paint For Furniture, with a heart shape used to form the dot above the letter i. The background is plain white.
