Acadia Pear Paint Makeover
This Acadia Pear paint was the perfect accompaniment to the adorable “froggy” transfer I used to transform this very dated breadbox!
Hello sweet friends!
Happy Trashy Treasures Tuesday! Our friends and I are getting together today to share our latest makeovers with you. So don’t forget to scroll all the way to the bottom to see theirs!
I hope you have had a wonderful fall so far. It’s not feeling too much like fall around here…yet. But looks like next week we will start getting some cooler temps! This summer loving-warm weather girl is ready, can you believe that?! haha!
On another note, it’s been a heavy and hard week or two for so many since the hurricane ravaged through NC and TN. (and elsewhere!) So much devastation and loss. And now another one is headed directly for our beloved Anna Maria Island (and a very large part of Florida) which also got hit with Helene. So sad and terrifying really! Praying so hard for everyone that have been in the paths of these hurricanes and the aftermath that they must now deal with. (and will deal with to come!) If anyone is reading from those areas (or have loved ones in those areas), just know that you have been in my prayers!!
Acadia Pear Paint Makeover
I sent an email over the weekend to let everyone know about 7 brand new paint colors! If you missed it, you can check them out right here >>> ACR Shop
So many great ones I can not wait to try! Well, I tried one today! Acadia Pear, which is described like this: A gentle green with yellow undertones and a silver cast. This mid-tone shade is both charming and elegant, reminiscent of sunlit foliage.
This little bread box got a whole new look with it!
I knew I wanted to use one of the new colors and I considered the new Lavender Haze or Velvet Plum shades too. Also under consideration for this makeover, was maybe a girly little box using these pretty ballerina moulds.
Or lining the edges with these gorgeous decorative trim moulds.
I even thought about using this mould to add pretty birds to the front of the breadbox too.
But in the end I decided to go with the pretty new green shade and the cute froggy transfer.
MATERIALS SOURCE LIST – Acadia Pear Paint Makeover
- Acadia Pear Paint
- Victorian Lace Paint
- TSP Alternative Cleaner
- Sandpaper
- Froggy Meadows Greens Transfer
- Tough Coat Topcoat in Matte
- Bin Shellac Primer
Prefer to shop on Etsy? I have an Etsy shop also, here!
SAND, CLEAN & PRIME
I began by lightly sanding the whole thing, cleaning well with TSP Alternative Cleaner and then priming with BIN Shellac Primer (to help cover and prevent bleedthru)
PAINT
Then once that was dry, I painted the interior white (Victorian Lace) and the exterior white and Acadia Pear.
I love Victorian Lace, it’s probably my favorite white!
ADD TRANSFERS
Once that’s fully dry, I added transfers. Froggy Meadow Greens. (linked above!)
This is kind of what I was thinking…
This one is part of this transfer and I really wanted to use it somewhere but decided on other ones from the set instead. I’ll save this for something else in the future!
And this one on the front.
New to decor transfers?? Check out this post to learn all about them! >> How To Use Rub On Decor Transfers (Tips & More)
I cut as close to the frog one so I could place it in the corner of the back of the box.
I considered adding this one on the top.
But decided to leave it off. Oddly, that’s why I chose to paint the top white! Oh well, I like the clean look without it.
I didn’t get a chance to apply a topcoat sealer (over the transfers) before sharing today but will be using our Tough Coat Topcoat in Matte for that.
REVEAL
I’m loving this new green. To me, it’s a very sophisticated green. It would be beautiful on a dresser or something similar! Perfect for a furniture piece in a foyer, etc.
I feel like the frogs are peeking out from the corner there. So cute! (unless you don’t like frogs, of course! ha!!)
This breadbox went from the 80s/90s to today!
You’d never know there was an old country apple on the front! lol (and I laugh, but I had very similar decor in our home early in our marriage, early 90s!!)
Elegant and perfect to use for so many things, and definitely not just bread!
PIN it to save it!
Don’t forget to hop over and see these “Trashy Treasure” makeovers too!
Have a wonderful week!

A refreshing new look.
Thanks, Larissa!!
SO funny that we used almost the exact same things to transform our pieces today ha ha!! LOVE how this bread box turned out! XOXO
Haha, thanks! And we wonder why people always think we are the same person!! Too funny!! xoxo
So updated and I love the little frogs peeking from the corner. Stay safe re the hurricane/weather. It’s scary how severe the storms are getting! XOXO
Thanks, Denise!! Thankfully, we are not in the area of it but a place we visit in Florida for the last 25 years is! And yes, you are right! xo
W😮W
Thanks, Willie!!!
Hi Nancy! Turned out so pretty and I think the frogs peeking out from the inside is so cute.
Thank you, Cheryl! I think so too! :) xo
That is a beautiful green, Nancy, and the flowers suit it so well!
It really is, Marcie! :) I love when things come together like I planned!!ha! xo
It’s so pretty, and I love that shade of green.
Thanks, Lizzie! It really is a nice color! xo
Oh I just love this transformation. Yes, you and your pal Christy were of the same mind set this time – and I am so glad too because I looooooove that shade of green. You sure took that old worn dated piece and brought it back to life. Nancy! Well done. It’s awesome!!
Thanks, friend!! And yes, weren’t we?! We often are!! haha!! I’m not a huge green fan but I really love this one! xoxo
I just love this! So pretty, yet simple. Love the frog! I saw the new paint colors and they are so pretty. I must try this paint soon. I have a very old bread box that was left in our lake house when we bought it so this was inspiring. I’ve been trying to think of other uses for it as I don’t have a lot of counter space. I have several ideas, just have to decide. Decisions on projects are always the hardest part for me lol. Oh I love those molds too, especially the bird one.
Thank you, Debra! Yes, they are really vibrant colors! Yes, make over that bread box and use it for all kinds of things. I have that same issue at times!! Haha!! It really can be hard to decided what to do! xo
