Flipping Smalls – Coastal Style
Flipping the smalls today! Coastal style. SO simple, SO quick!
Hello friends! How have you been? Are you staying cool? It’s been SO ridiculously hot lately! Ugh!! I love summer, but come on. I would sure love some 70s, and even 80s would be so nice.
Today, I’m sharing a few smalls today. Coastal style.
I’ve done several other “flipping smalls” series:
For this “flipping smalls”, I decided to do them all in a coastal style theme.

Flipping Smalls – Coastal Style
I found 2 of them at my local thrift store, minutes from me, and the little sign came from Dollar General. I bought it long ago to make over, but never got to it.
MATERIALS SOURCE LIST
SOLID WOOD FRAME
The wood frame is just beautiful and looks like it’s an antique. But it’s not, as you can see from the back.

It was quite dirty, so I scrubbed it up first.

Clean slate ready to go! You could just leave it like this. All it really needed was a good cleaning.
I used our new Alchemy Limestone & Chalk paint for this one.

It took several coats to fully cover.

Once it was fully dry, I lightly sanded all over to distress it and give it a relaxed coastal style feel.

So much beautiful detail that comes out this way. Love that!
DECORATIVE METAL WINE HOLDER

I cleaned this one up and sprayed it with primer before painting it.
Then I pulled out Casement (a nice soft white shade) and gave it a coat of paint.

Once it was fully dry, I pulled out this transfer that I had used previously on this project (the small chest in my foyer). I had leftover pieces from the transfer, so I decided to use them here.
I folded the transfer as shown below so I’d know where to cut it.

Then applied the first layer (the waves/water) and the second (the rocks) over the top.

Don’t know how to use transfers? Check out this page here with all the details:
How To Use Rub On Decor Transfers
Lastly, I added a sailboat out in the water.

Since these are “coastal-style”, I decided to give it some distressing. I used sandpaper to rough up the edges and bring the dark metal color through.

I followed that with a coat of Topcoat in matte.
Such a different look, huh??

COASTAL ART WORK
I painted this with the same color, Casement.

To give it some added color, I used Seaside for the edges.

Pay no mind to my messy paint jars, I am not a neat painter!! haha!
I used one of the large sailing ships on this one. Then I pulled out this small piece of writing from this transfer.

I thought it would be the perfect addition.

I also put a little white dry brush over the blue paint to add some dimension, too.
Some Topcoat to seal it and done! So simple!

This is the chest and part of the same transfer I used today.

And look who is peeking around the corner to check out what I was doing. lol

A little blurry, but I had to snap him quick! Can y’all believe he is 9 years old already??? I can’t!
And this little blue-eyed girl who loves to sit right here and watch all the “goings on” out the front window. She is 2 already. Wow.

Here’s a pic of both of my fur babies.

Ryder moved again, blurry face!! haha!! He’s hard to keep still. lol
These smalls were fun to do. I love how paint and transfers change the look of things so much. And is so simple to do!

PIN it to save it!

Have a wonderful weekend and try to stay cool!!
xoxo

Very nice make overs! From ugly to beautiful! I absolutely love your white dog! What kind is he again? Does he have blue eyes? I miss our dog so much. He looked just like Ryder only all black. He was 3/4 golden.
thanks, Z

Thanks, Chrisy!! Yes!! xoxo
GREAT job – love these coastal pieces, Nancy! Hey, will you let me know the link to those transfers? Thank you!
Hey friend!! Thank you so much!! Here is the link to the lighthouse/boat ones. Unfortunately, the other one (the script) is no longer available. But I do have some other script ones in my shop that might work. There are so many great transfers that ReDesign has discontinuted! I guess it’s hard to keep adding new ones without letting old ones go on the regular. xo
So beautiful!
Thanks, Jody!!
