Time for SPRING and a brand new DIY spring wreath.

Yes, I’m more than ready.  I’m not sure I’ve ever been so happy in my entire life!
Okay, that’s a tad bit of an exaggeration but wow, it’s been a long, cold winter and I’m ready to move on from it.
How about you guys?

I know you are too. :)

So in celebration of Spring I created a new (and very simple) DIY Spring wreath for my front door in less than 30 minutes.

It’s so super simple!!! Very.
And it took no time whatsoever.

Wreaths are pricey or can be. Not to mention that, I don’t usually like the ones that are pre-made.
Sometimes yes, but when I do they are $$.

So I decided to make one myself.

I started out with these items I picked up at Michael’s. All were either 40 or 50% off.

The “bunch” of flowers are so pretty but I ended up not using them on this wreath.
It just got a bit too “busy” for me.

I like simple. So I kept it simple.

I started by pulling off the pink and white sprigs and hot gluing them to the grape vine wreath….

Just a few to get a pattern going.
And no, I had no clue what I was going to do when I started…it just fell into place and came together.

Adding more….

I just continued around and around…and around again, until it was nice and full.

I even had leftovers when I was done.

I’m telling you, this was the easiest thing ever.
And yes, it probably looks like it! ;)
But I love the simplicity of it. It’s right up my alley.

The colors are so soft and pretty.

I considered adding a big ole ribbon on the top.

But simplicity won out yet again. :)

I love the touch of pink with the rest of my porch colors.
They are similar to my indoor colors. White and pale teal/blue.
If I can get the porch all spiffy, I may share that soon too. :)

I also really like the wreath out on the glass door better than on the interior black door. (that I may paint soon!)

What color do you think I’m leaning towards??
Bet you can’t guess! (well, actually, I’d bet you can guess)
I’ll give you a hint…it’s not pink. ;)

Have you ever made a wreath for your door? If not, you should.
Just pick up some pretty flowers (any you like) from the craft store, a wreath form (also any you like) and start playing around with them.
You really can’t go wrong.
I’m not much of a wreath maker so if I can do it, you can too. :)

Just to give you another idea, here’s a wreath I did for Fall …. it’s a totally different style than this one.
I had no idea what I was going to do with that one either but it fell into place as I moved things around a bit.
I used “Fall items” but you could do something similar with floral, pastel pieces.
Then you’ll have a little something pretty to hang on your door to celebrate Spring too. :)

I’ll see you later this week with our third (and final) installment of our “Shop Your Home” series!

  1. SIMPLY lovely. I too have a hard time finding pre-made wreaths that I like and/or can afford. I’ve never tried making my own, but now I’m inspired! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Very pretty wreath! Soft, springy colors and I do love the simplicity too! I think I’ll be heading to Michaels today!:)

    1. Thank you Peggy! Yay, hopefully the sale is still on! I was just there (again!) this past weekend and it was. :)
      Have fun!!

  3. NANCY, LOVE THE WREATH, THE COLORS ARE GREAT. JUST A THING – I MAKE THESE FOR EVERY HOLIDAY FOR MY FRONT DOOR AND DO NOT USE THE HOT GLUE, THAT WAY I CAN CHANGE THEM OUT WITH DIFFERENT COLORS AND DIFFERENT FLOWERS. FOR THE MOST PART THEY STAY REALLY GOOD IN THE GRAPEVINE. JUST A THOUGHT!
    LOVE YA

    1. Hey Vila Jo!
That is a good idea! In the first picture the sprigs are tucked but they didn’t really stay well so I ended up gluing! ;)
And the way my son goes in and out of that front door…it wouldn’t last here!! lol

  4. Nice one Nancy. I just made an easy one for my mom’s front door using tulips from Michael’s. No glueing necessary just clip and tuck in a grapevine wreath. 30 minutes total! It’s on Instagram if you want to check it out. cupcake1657

    1. Hey Sheila!
      Thank you!!
The first picture here the sprigs are actually just tucked but they didn’t really stay well for me (they were quite flimsy) so I glued them in/on.
The way my son goes in and out of that front door..it probably wouldn’t last!! ;)
I just found your wreath over there! It’s a beauty!!! Now I want a tulip wreath too. :) I do have an extra grapevine wreath here……

    1. Thank you Marie! And ding, ding, ding…you win! :) Yes, absolutely.
And I am with you…so happy it’s Spring, but I really wish the temps would cooperate! No more snow but 40s and 50s with and occasional 60s. I want all 60s by now! ;)
Praying your snow will melt all away for you!!

  5. Pretty! And, like you, I love the simplicity! And no, I’ve never made a wreath for my door. I have double front doors… but one of these days I will! I’ve seen some really pretty ones! xo

    1. Thank you Karen! :) Ok, then you must make one! And no excuses that you’ve run out of room on this one! ;)
You could make it while your grandson naps!!

  6. Your wreath is gorgeous! It looks so soft and pretty. Do you remember how many sprigs of flowers you used? I always hot glue my flowers too, I find you can remove your decorations easily without too much damage. Love it!

    1. Thank you Sally! :) I sure don’t! Sorry. But I can tell you that I only bought one “bunch” of each, the pink and white, and I didn’t use all of the sprigs that were on there.
I had some left over (for more projects, yay!).

  7. Hi Nancy I love the pink and white wreath so much that I ran up to the nearest Michaels to buy the stuff to make one only to discover that they donā€™t have the flowers that you used! I spent a while searching through all the flowers to be sure I wasnā€™t missing them. Can you tell me the name of the flowers so I can find them online? I love that wreath!!

    1. Hi Kathy!
Oh no, I’m so sorry! I have no idea what they were now because I removed the tags and threw them away when I was making the arrangements but they were not in the regular floral section. They were in the seasonal section of flowers with the containers and such, if that helps any. I found this link to the white sunflowers but it says “in store only”. I’m guessing since these are seasonal, they won’t be found online. I do know that a lot of what they have is in store only because I will try to link things when I can but sometimes can’t find the items online. Maybe try another Michael’s if you have one close by? Sorry I couldn’t be more help! :( xo
