Hello friends! I hope your weekend was amazing. The weather here was perfect! We had fun and worked a bit too. Today I’m sharing a brand new little box makeover. I worked on several other things this weekend so I’ll be sharing them later this week and next.
Before we continue, I want to remind you that I have a GIVEAWAY going on right now! Hop on over and enter to win, here. There’s still time! Remember, you can enter daily for extra chances to win!!
The project today is a makeover using ReDesign’s beautiful Decoupage Decor Tissue Paper. I don’t think most people know how many pretty designs there are. And how many things you can do with it! You can see some of them here.
This one came out of this haul…
Right there in the middle of the bench.

Cute as-is but you know I’m going to change it up! lol
The inside was great though! I’ll keep that.
MATERIALS LIST FOR THE DECOUPAGE TISSUE PAPER MAKEOVER
- Victorian Lace Paint
- Rose Water Paint
- Decoupage & Transfer Gel
- Tough Coat Topcoat
- Blush Floral Tissue Paper
- Sandpaper
- Floral Transfer
Prefer to shop on Etsy? I have an Etsy shop also, here!
I started by removing the hardware.
Next, I painted the exterior with Victorian Lace. (a beautiful white!)
And I left the interior black.
To attach the decorative decor tissue paper, I used Decoupage & Transfer Gel.
The tissue paper was a little bit creased so I ran a warm iron over it to smooth it out first.
After ironing, I laid out the tissue paper to decide which part of the design I wanted to use on the top of the box.
Since I had a certain area of the design that I wanted to use, I folded back the tissue paper to apply the decoupage gel.
After that, I added a coat of Decoupage Gel to the top too.
Once it was fully dry, I lightly sanded the edges to separate the excess tissue paper from the box.
See how it comes apart so easily that way?
I like to do little surprises inside so I added this small floral transfer to the inside bottom.
Originally, I had planned to have the outside be all white but decided to add a little pink.
Rose Water pink is what I chose since it’s a beautifully soft pink like the tissue paper.
I gave the whole thing one coat of Tough Coat Topcoat in Matte.

Hardware back on …
…and done!
What a completely different look, right?!
A sweet little box now.
I just love using ReDesign decorative decor tissue paper and their transfer papers to take things up a notch or two!
They really add the perfect creative touch.
I’m so glad I decided to add the Rose Water pink paint to this!
And surprise!
Here’s another project I have done using this tissue paper in a different style! Check it out here > DECOUPAGE TISSUE PAPER TRAY
PIN it to save it!
Have you tried our decorative decor tissue papers yet? They are not like traditional thin tissue paper and are easier to work with. You should give them a try if you haven’t! We have quite a few to choose from here. (And 6 new ones coming next week! Plus TONS more products in the shop, stay tuned for that!)
Have a great Wednesday!!

This paper is really sweet with the pink and blues! Thank you, Marcie! Hope you are having a great week!! xoxo
First, what prep did you do on the old tissue paper top? Second, I loved the first version as well, it would just depend on your decor which one looks better :) Your work is always top notch!
Hi Dana! I did not really do much as far as prep on this one. (just simple cleaning) And you are so right, I thought the same exact thing! There are times you can find thrifty treasures that are perfect as-is, and I just love that! And thank you so much!! xoxo
