Speaking of being crafty, I have been working on something else really fun and can’t wait to share! All kinds of crafty going on over here. haha Stay tuned for that one in the next several weeks.

Dollar Store Valentines Decoupage Ideas

I hopped over to our local Dollar (not Dollar, lol) store and picked up a few items to make over. The napkins came from Home Sense and Home Goods. They always have great selections.

Glass plate and small wood craft boxes

various heart, gold dot and candy heart napkins

The small white plate was an unfinished type of piece in the craft section at the Dollar Store, and the only one they had left.

I used this napkin and decoupaged the entire piece, bottom and top.

When decoupaging with napkins, always be sure to separate the 3 layers, and use only the top, printed one.

I used Transfer Gel, but you can also use Mod Podge for decoupage.

Once it was dry, I grabbed the new gold paint (these sponge applicators are great for this) I had recently bought and used it along the edges to glam it up a bit.

Just one of many Valentines decoupage ideas.

Next, I painted all of these little wood boxes and trays white. Any white paint will do.

You can also spray paint, if you like.

I printed out some of the new printables I made for you guys to use on these.

I printed them on my laser printer, cut them out, and used them along with the napkins.

Sort of playing around with placement.

For easier cutting, I simply turned the wood boxes over and pressed the bottom to create a crease.

Then I cut the crease and voila!

Using the Transfer Gel, I applied the napkins to the bottom and/or sides of the boxes.

Then I applied my little printables I cut out on top using the napkins as a background.

I forgot to mention that I used my mini iron to iron out some of the folds before using them.

ironing the the creases out of the napkin

This one was fun because I realized after I attached the napkin that only some of the dots are bright gold! lol

Oh well, I decided to just let it be part of the planned design, right?

This napkin is adorable!

I cut this one the same way, by simply pressing on the napkin to create a crease.

Easy!

For the glass pieces, I used this Valentine printable at the bottom as a “surprise”!

And this one on the front.

The plate gets one on the back. I cut out the heart portion of that napkin.

I cleaned up around the napkin with a damp paper towel.

Once it was dry, I spray-painted it white to make it stand out more.

This mug is also from the Dollar Store.

I used this sweet printable on the front.

I added gold paint to the top of one used an old red paint pen to add red to the other.

The word Nancy is written in elegant, flowing black script, reminiscent of Chalk Style Paint For Furniture, with a heart shape used to form the dot above the letter i. The background is plain white.
