Blue pumpkin transfers and classic white paint created a classy and elegant “thankful” tray for fall!

Hello friends!

Remember the “Hello Fall” sign I made recently? This one…

“Hello Fall Porch Sign”

I used this transfer to create it. And I had a bunch of the transfers left over. So, of course, I had to make something with them.
This Dollar Store tray (which wasn’t a dollar, lol) was the perfect project for them. I bought the tray to use for a breakfast/snack I made and brought to a Bible study/ladies gathering. It’s nothing special and kind of “Dollar Store-ish” looking, if you know what I mean, so I thought I’d give it a refresh with some of the leftover transfers!

Here is how it looked when I got it.

Let’s give it a bit more elegant fall look.

First, I removed the handles on each side. (which you can’t see in the “before” photo above)

Then I gave it two coats of white paint.

One coat and a cute, also white, pup. haha

Then I played around with the arrangement of some of the transfers.

And after applying the ones I was going to use…this is what I still have left for more projects.

I sprayed the handles gold. This color.

I created this “THANKFUL” stencil using a script font.

And cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.

Next, I mixed up some blues I had on hand to match the blues in the pumpkins.

I think I got pretty close!

I attached the stencil to the tray and taped around it to protect the surrounding area.

Then used my velour paint roller to apply the paint. (my favorite way to do it)

Before it dried, I carefully removed the stencil.

I let it dry a bit before going in and removing the rest of the vinyl stencil pieces.

Doesn’t the blue color look like a good match? So glad!

Lastly, I reattached the handles.

And done!

Such a super simple little project, but I completely changed the look of this Dollar Store tray.

I love blue and white…and gold. Such a pretty combo.

Definitely a classier version of this little tray.

  1. Let group Nancy! I have a similar tray for YEARS and never could make up my mind what to do. Having a living room in blue, cream and black, I now have a starting point!

  2. What a new look! I didn’t hate the “before”- just didn’t like the too-bright orange “frame.” Had that been painted an autumn olive-y green it’d been fine – but you totally transformed it into something quite different. It’s really pretty.

    1. Thanks, Michele! No, that before wasn’t so bad but I didn’t love the orange either. Olive-y green would’ve been fun! Have a great weekend!! xoxo
