$8 Table Update With Wood Wick Fusion Mineral Paint
Loving our Wood Wick Fusion Mineral Paint for this fun $8 find! Just what this little table needed!
Hello sweet friends!
I’m sharing a lovely little piece I found at the ReStore last week… for $8!
Now, it wasn’t that exciting so I can imagine it got passed over by almost everyone. It was beat up a bit too so that was not helping its case! ha!
But I could see the beauty. Plus it had a cane shelf on the bottom and I just love that.
I used one of our new paint colors on this one and just love it! It’s a great color and it goes with everything.
$8 Table Update with Wood Wick Fusion Mineral Paint
Here is the table as I found it.
Red and black and all kinds of nicks and dings.
Piper girl had to come to check it out.
She’s growing like a weed! Still a tiny little thing though. She is absolutely the sweetest girl!
Ryder is close by chewing on his bone. He couldn’t be bothered. lol
But he’s doing great!! Back to his old self and the scar is not really even visible anymore as the hair is growing back to cover it.
MATERIALS LIST
SAND
Anyway, back to the table, I lightly sanded it all over and cleaned it up with some TSP Alternative.
Then I used a little wood filler to fill some of the dings on the top. (all supplies used for this project are listed above in the gray box with links)
Sanded that once dry and cleaned it up to get ready for paint.
PAINT
I pulled out our Wood Wick shade for this one. I had been wanting to try it on something for a while. It’s such a gorgeous color.
Now, I had originally thought I’d removed those embellishment designs in the corners. However, I took the screws out and they are glued in…very well.
And I thought, I really don’t want to mess with that! Nope!
So they stayed.
I painted the whole thing in the Wood Wick, 2 coats.
Then I thought I’d accent them in an off-white…again, nope!! haha!!
Did not love making those stand out at all.
And next, I painted the bottom cane shelf in the same color. Loved it!
I had thought I’d make the outer edge off-white too.
Did you guess it?? Again, nope!!
I really, really liked the clean look of the Wood Wick alone. And only have the cane shelf below in the lighter off-white shade.
By the way, I mixed up Parchment and Wood Wick, 50/50 to get that shade.
So I had to paint over my “nopes” but look at this pretty little thing now. I just love the clean look of it.
Even my husband walked by after and said, oh, I’m glad you didn’t do the white. Looks better like that! lol
I am glad I didn’t accentuate those accents in the corners or on the top. Looks so good all one color.
Sometimes less really is more!
Love that shelf below. That’s the only accent this table needed.
And wow, didn’t these colors completely change the look of this table?!
Rug info is here.
I actually really like how it looks in here but this one is not staying.
Let me show you the steps we have for Piper to get on the couch. She’s not spoiled at all. ;)
Isn’t she the cutest little thing?
We all just love her. Ryder adores her too. They are the best of pals. (I post them both often over on Instagram, my ACR account, and on Instagram, their account)
And look at this cool shot I got. She was looking up at me and before my camera could finish taking the shot, she moved! Of course!! haha! She’s always be bopping from here to there.
Anyway, back to the table
See that lovely sheen the Wood Wick Fusion Mineral Paint leaves? There is no need to add a topcoat to this paint but you can for extra durability.
I chose not to topcoat this one. Love that and it makes it so easy with updates too.
So much different than when it was black and red.
It’s got a new lease on life now!
PIN it to save it!
See? You just never know what something can look like! How great is this deal? Can’t beat $8 for a pretty new furniture piece like this.
What do you think? Should I have done the white accents or no? Loving the Wood Wick Fusion Mineral Paint shade as much as I do?
Have an amazing weekend, friends!
xo
Absolutely Elegant ❤️ Not only is your work amazing, but your willingness to tackle everything with a tireless attitude is inspiring 🤗🌹
Thank you, Willie! So kind of you to say. :)
I love the table and the colors! And your dog! 😁 Thank you for all your inspirational posts, you’re a very talented lady. What breed of dog is Piper?
Thank you, Marjie! You are so kind! Piper is a long haired chihuahua. And the sweetest little thing ever! :) xo
Like the willingness to try the white then say NOPE!
It looks great this way, with the cane shelf a lighter color.
Yes!! haha! I really like the cane shelf area lighter too. :) Thank you!
It looks perfect as is, I agree that the white accents were too much. Such a unique table, and I like it as a coffee table for a small space! I can totally imagine it in a cozy loft apartment or a cute little cottage💕. Great job!
Thank you, Vicki! I hadn’t originally seen it in my mind as a coffee table but I actually really like it that way too! Yes, would look just perfect in either of those. :)
Great makeover! The white was too much. Those ears how cute is she! Adorable! Glad to hear Ryder is doing well!
Thank you, Vicki! Yes, the white was definitely a big NO! And she is a sweetie. :)
I am 75 years old and this is a very classic piece. You did a great job with the color. I was going to say the same thing, it makes a perfect coffee table without taking up too much floor space. I also love the lighter color on the cane as it looks almost natural as cane should look.
On the cane however, did you paint top and bottom and how did you keep it from sticking in the openings in the cane. You did a great job.
Thanks.
I hadn’t thought “coffee table” but when I put it there, I loved it too! I didn’t paint the underside of the cane. I don’t think you really need to. I didn’t have trouble with the paint sticking in the cane at all. But I did sort of brush vigorously to get it all in there. Thank you, Gwennie! xo
LOVE that color and the subtle sheen. Love the wicker shelf…….and like you mentioned – the ONLY thing I’d have done was to find some way to remove those glued on Chinese-style accents in the corners. Just don’t love them at all……BUT, you said they were glued on too much, well, and that makes a sensible decision to leave them on! I think she is a true beauty.
Love love love that color. Well done, Nancy.
And that pup of yours is so danged adorable. Those ears melt my heart!!! And that weird photo shot as she moved is very cool.
Thank you, Michele! I love the sheen too. Just enough without being shiny. Haha! I really, really wanted those gone but I’m telling you, they were glued tight. Ugh! I tried! But also knew I didn’t want the whole table coming apart to get them off. The color is just so beautiful and really goes with everything.
And you and me both, those ears get me every time! :) Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo
Love it! Perfect the way it is, with the cane being the accent!
Thanks, Audra! Yes, same! xo
It’s beautiful. You are right. Sometimes less is more!
Thank you, Joy! Yes to that! Happy weekend to you! xo
Unbelievable bargain on the table, Nancy! I’d have chosen black or navy blue for the Asian style table but this color is a nice neutral that likely will appeal to lots of buyers.
Thanks, Marcie! You are so right. I probably should have kept with the Asian theme but I think the wheel was already turning with the thought I was removing those accents. And using the Wood Wick color. Then I couldn’t get the accent pieces off, lol!
You really made this Asian influence table elegant. I also pictured it white with chinoiserie elements. I love that cane bottom too. Never saw one like that.
Thank you, Fran! Oh! I can totally envision that and I think that would have been so lovely! xo
Nancy, tell me how you get away with two dogs and a white couch!!!!? Not to mention, a basket in the corner! I have three dogs and they would take turns eating the tassel and the basket! They they’d put their muddy paws on the beautiful couch! LOL!!! Love my pups, but they are a lot!!! -Laurie
Oh too funny!! Thankfully, my big guy doesn’t really chew things like that. Now, Piper is another story!! haha! She likes to destroy the toys, Ryder just holds them in his mouth. Hopefully she’ll grow out of that!! lol
❤️
This came out so pretty. You chose a great color. Love those dogs! I mean Ryder was a given lol but your newish little one is so adorable!
Thank you, Debra! Aw, yes, they are so much fun!! xo
Love the transformation! I’m trying that color ! I have an old Broyhill Fontana table that I’d like to paint for our grandson to use as a play table at our house. Should I seal the table to protect it? Thanks.
Thanks, Lulu!! Yes, definitely do! And yes, I would seal it to give it a little more protection since it will be a play table. Be sure to let it cure for a few weeks too for best results! :)
What sealer would you recommend? Thanks again!
I would use something like our Tough Coat Topcoat. And you are very welcome!
Very classy little piece with her new outfit. Great save!
Thank you, Sonja! I think so too! :) xo
