Happy Trashy Treasure Tuesday! Hope you had an amazing weekend! We had a pretty busy one ourselves. And yep, the weather is still stifling, so I’m eyeing fall very expectantly! haha!! I am so looking forward to crisp fall days after all of this crazy humidity. Ugh. So, you might have an idea where I’m going with today’s makeover.

EDITED to add: my post is late today because I was in the middle of writing it early last evening when this huge, crazy storm blew in out of nowhere. Hail, strong winds, rain, tons of limbs and power lines went down. Tons of huge trees down, one right through the middle of a neighbor’s house a few doors down from us. It was the craziest thing we’ve ever seen in our 20+ years living here. Absolutely worse than any hurricane we’ve lived through here! TONS without power in our area. Thankfully, our lineman worked very hard through the night, and our power came back on at 7:30 am.

Harvest Crate For Fall Decor

I found this wood crate a while back. I think I paid $7 for it. It was either the ReStore or Goodwill; I can’t remember, but it was one of those.

Here’s the inside…

You know I’m doing something for fall with this, right??

I lightly sanded all around the outside.

It oddly turned that color as I sanded.

Then I wiped it all down and painted it with Victorian Lace paint.

And lightly sanded to “rough it up” once dry.

I placed it right in the middle.

I also had these two little pumpkins left over.

I thought about putting them somewhere on the front, but ended up placing them on the middle back instead.

Once that was done, I used Matte Tough Coat Topcoat around the entire outside.
The inside I left stained brown. I thought that would go great with the fall aesthetic.

Next, I grabbed my “fall box” out of the garage and threw this together quickly to get an idea of how I wanted to style it the next morning for photos.

  1. I love it so much, and I am so ready!! That storm was crazy! The rain was literally blowing sideways, and then as quickly as it came, it was gone. Glad you didn’t have any damage! XOXO

  7. That box looks awesome, Nancy. I hate to ever wish time to fly faster, but I am over all these wicked storms and all this rain and would like to have just a nice day. It’s been a long time since we’ve had one, that’s for sure.

  8. Wow…how cute is that! I just knew you would put pumpkins in it. Thank goodness you were safe but so sad for your neighbor 😞. This summer the storms are so violent 😢. Luckily I’ve been so blessed nothing serious here in our neighborhood. I’m with you. Ready for cooler temperatures and fall decor.
