Nautical Chest - Before and After - artsychicksrule

Nautical Chest with Custom Graphics

I wasn’t sure I’d include this one since it’s actually from 2013….originally.
I re-shared it in 2016 and it made it into the top ten so I figured it truly was one of my most popular posts for 2016, so should be included.
(and it was in at #2!)
One of the different things about this post is that I shared an easy way to transfer large graphics onto furniture. :)

AND now it’s time for number one……

#1

DIY Beach Painting - CREATE YOUR VERY OWN - artsychicksrule

DIY Beach Painting

Number one was this really simple beach painting! I LOVE this painting and it was so much fun to do.
I think it was most popular because people really do love to create their own artwork….and you can!
If I can do it, so can you. :)

Now, my most popular post this year, (not from 2016, but late 2015) should get an honorable mention, I think.
Since it was so popular, I really thought I needed to include it here. :)

And the honorable mention is… ;)

DIY Flocked Tree, Wreaths - Thrifty Holiday Decor! - Before and After - #artsychicksrule #flockedtree

DIY Flocked Tree

Oh my goodness, Pinterest had a field day with this one!! ;)
You guys are really interested in learning about flocking your own tree (and wreaths, etc)!
And I can see why, they are just beautiful. I love my thrift store tree that I transformed with simple flocking. :)

Well, that’s it folks! The top ten posts for 2016.

I hope they inspire you to get started on your projects this year!
Making your home beautiful, one project at a time…and on a budget, of course.

I can NOT wait to see what’s in store for 2017. I have a storage full of furniture that’s just waiting for me to make it pretty. :)
And I can’t wait to share it with you! I’ve got to get those creative juices flowing after having been off for a week! ;)
To create more time, well, to create, I’ve decided to step away from a few blogging obligations so I can work on more things.
I also plan to get busier with my food blog…. Foodie Chicks Rule. I didn’t get as much shared over there in 2016 as I’d hoped.
I love to create and share recipes and hopefully will be able to do so more this year.

Happiest of New Year’s wishes to you all!

See you later this week,

xoxo

  1. I am not creative by nature–more of an emulator–but since discovering your site I’ve been fascinated and feeling less timid about tackling a project of my own. You know what made me sign up? The photo of the front of your house before, then AFTER. I thought “Wow! I wish I lived on HER street!”

    1. Thank you Suzanne! And wow, really?!! That is so awesome and thank you for telling me. I am so glad I have inspired you. I do truly believe that anyone can do these things. (because I do also believe that everyone has some creativity in them, whether they know it or not! ;) ) So happy to “meet” you and look forward to sharing more with you in the new year! xoxo

  2. I am not surprised that painting was #1 at all! Your tutorial totally made me feel like I could go this! And I still want to …some day lol. Great top 10! XOXO

    1. Thanks Christy! :) That painting was fun to do! Too bad I don’t really have anywhere else to put one, so probably won’t be making any more. ;)

  3. Judging by all these lovely projects, you had a very busy and productive 2016. I remember each and every one of these pieces and I’m not surprised they made your Top 10. Every time I see your flocked tree it makes me want to flock ours…maybe next Christmas and you can bet it’ll be your post that I come to for the tutorial. Happy New Year, Nancy and wishing you a Happy, Healthy, Successful and Creative 2017. :)

  4. Nancy, did you use a stencil for the Nautical Dresser with white stenciling. If you did where did you purchase it from or perhaps you used a number of different ones. Anyhoo I am in need of either something like you did or a large anchor to put on the front of an old dresser after I paint it. Thank you so much for steering me in the right direction for stencils.,
